Red/Blue, Conservative/Liberal, Right/Left, CNN/FOX
Let me qualify this commentary by saying, I’m only talking to or addressing Christian biblicist. Believers in Christ who use the bible as their ultimate source of authority. (Rightly divided that is).
Listen to the prayer of Jesus concerning future disciples. (Us).
John 17:21
21 I pray that they will all be one, just as you and I are one—as you are in me, Father, and I am in you. And may they be in us so that the world will believe you sent me.
It is our unity, our connectedness, our oneness that will be our greatest witness to those who we wish to follow the same God as we do. The enemy knows this. So, what does he do?
He divides the believers in this country by luring us into a greater commitment to our extracurricular affiliations to fight social injustice rather than means spelled out in the biblical text. The enemy wants us more committed to our political party affiliation, conservative and liberal ideologies, nationalistic affiliations and he preaches and models it through the pulpit of CNN and FOX news.
The arrogance and self-righteous, headstrong and heart wrong views of Fox news is disrespectful and extremely insulting to so many of us who believe that Jesus died for all and was anointed to liberate his chosen from their oppressors. Acts 10:38, Luke 4:18 No one race of people, group of people or cast of people is better than any other. John 3:16
Then there is the apostate watered-down, subjective presentation of truth by CNN. It is a poor representation of what God had in mind when he sent Jesus. Grace is not a license to sin. Grace teaches us “how to live”. Titus 2:11 Jesus didn’t die so that we can be free to live any kind of way that we want to. He died to liberate us from the sentence of death that came through the original sin of Adam. He then left us a record of Himself that teaches us how we should live in this life until He returns. (It’s called “OBJECTIVE TRUTH”). The word of God.
At this critical time in our nation, we as believers should be siding with each other and trusting in the God of the Bible. Yet, we have chosen to side with either Red/Blue, Conservative/Liberal, Right/Left, CNN/FOX. These opposing camps serve as the glue that holds us together or the wedge that divides us with no hope of reconciliation.
If your political views fueled by the FAKE NEWS of both Fox and CNN is what determines your relationships with other believers, you need to repent and ask God to help you. The government is still on his shoulders. I am your brother, not because I agree with your political views or I prefer to watch CNN over FOX or FOX over CNN.
If you’re a Christian then God is your Father. So, the bottom line is this. If God is your Father than I am your brother. Let’s preach Jesus in the House of God and leave politics and religion outside.
If you’re going to speak truth to power, do it in their face. I believe that the pulpit is a place to present objective truth and seek to reconcile man to God and man to man.
Hate injustice, fight for what’s right, refuse to be politically bullied but be motivated by love. Don’t bite and devour one another and pray for those in authority.
Christian biblicists who are caught up in this world of deceit, power and “truthiness” remember the command of the great apostle for times like these.
2 Tim 4:2-5
2 Preach the word of God. Be prepared, whether the time is favorable or not. Patiently correct, rebuke, and encourage your people with good teaching. 3 For a time is coming when people will no longer listen to sound and wholesome teaching. They will follow their own desires and will look for teachers who will tell them whatever their itching ears want to hear. 4 They will reject the truth and chase after myths. 5 But you should keep a clear mind in every situation. Don’t be afraid of suffering for the Lord. Work at telling others the Good News, and fully carry out the ministry God has given you.
