“We Must Speak Sound Doctrine”

“There are many, New teachings in the body of Christ that sound like the truth but are not the truth. Secondly, there are many old teachings that we have taught over and over again that are just not true.”
—Bishop McLaughlin (From the message: We must speak Sound Doctrine)Sound Doctrine

What is truth? Who’s speaking the truth? It’s almost impossible to discern. Truth is wrapped up in our style, our productions, and even in the charisma and popularity of the teacher/preacher that its hard to know the truth because all we can see is how it’s packaged.

We can’t bash the Mormons and Muslims and Jehovah Witnesses and send them to hell and we don’t even know the truth ourselves. The bible says that we should speak those things that become sound doctrine. If our messages are not sound then we are just sounding brass or tinkling cymbals. We have to have a CERTAIN sound at this hour or no one will prepare to fight this battle of the truth.

1Cor 14:8
For if the trumpet give an uncertain sound, who shall prepare himself to the battle?

It’s time for us to sound a certain sound so that the church will prepare for the battle. That sound is SOUND DOCTRINE.

We need to know what we believe about the essential doctrines:
THE DEITY OF CHRIST
SALVATION BY GRACE
THE RESURRECTION OF CHRIST
THE GOSPEL
MONOTHEISM

If you are not even aware that these are the essential doctrines of our faith, then you need to consider this your trumpet call.

I’m writing this sitting in a day session of a conference in Minden, Louisiana.
Two Mormons have just got up and left because they couldn’t relate to what they were hearing. It didn’t bother me because we have people in our own churches that don’t even relate to what they are hearing.

“There are many, New Teachings in the body of Christ that sound like the truth
but are not the truth. Secondly, there are many old teachings that we have
taught over and over again that are just not true.”

It’s time for us to search the scriptures daily to hear if what we are hearing is true. Acts 17:11

You can tune in to the conference on PERISCOPE by downloading the app Periscope and searching for ddm or David Divelbiss. I’ll be teaching live at 12:30 today on why we should speak sound doctrine.
