Our hope, faith and future lies in He who sits on the heavenly throne and who rules on the thrones of our hearts.

It is amazing the number of neurotic, (unbalanced) and overanxious reactions by many over an inauguration of a man “duly” elected to be the next President of the United States of America. We live in a “world” that in the words of President Barak Obama is, “No longer a Christian nation…”. So we cannot and should not expect things to go the way we think they should as Christians, especially ethically and according to the word of God. We can’t even hold our governmental leaders to biblical standards when the system has rejected the word of God as true. Subjective/Relativism is what rules in the world in which we now live. This simply means “everyone does that which is right in their own eyes.” Also, don’t forget that we live in what is now officially a Postmodern society. This simply means, “society is in a state of constant change. There is no absolute version of reality, no absolute truths. So nobody is right and nobody is wrong.”

So as Christians we are in this world but not of this world, there is no need to panic, no need to become overanxious, nor is there any need to fret because of “who” is being inaugurated as President today. The world is not designed to bless us, it hates us. John 18:36 Jesus said, “My kingdom is not of this world…” The United States may no longer be a Christian nation but there are still Christians living in it and our job is to be salt and light. The United States may be a nation that promotes individually and an acceptance of every “way of life” that men chose to live and listens to everyone’s opinion right or wrong through every means of media there is. Also, the United States may believe that there is no truth that is applicable to all people everywhere regardless of how they “feel”. This is the way of the world.

As believers, we should never forget that Jesus said that his kingdom is not what we see going on around us. John 18:36 “My kingdom,” said Jesus, “doesn’t consist of what you see around you.” So, there is a nation within this nation that is unashamedly Christian. There is a nation within this nation that still believes that they should get there direction from the God of the bible. There is a nation of Christians within this nation that believes in divine Moral Law and absolute truth. That truth is the word of God.

This nation of Christians should not be overanxious. This nation of Christians should not be overreacting. This nation of Christians should not be fretting, fearful, angry or in despair over “who” the next President is. The nation of Christians within this nation should realize that our hope is not in a man. Our hope is not in a governmental system or even who sits on an earthly throne. Our hope, faith and future lies in He who sits on the heavenly throne and who rules on the thrones of our hearts. So, we should let not our hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid.

Donald Trump can do no more and no less that what the God of heaven allows Him to do. The sovereign God has “allowed” what we see today, like it or not. Our job is to pray that God’s will be done on earth as it is in heaven. It is God who turns the hearts of kings and rulers. God’s will cannot be stopped by man’s ill.

So, don’t fret, panic, run to the hills and spread fear to our family, friends and children. God is in control.

The word of the Lord:
Jer. 17:5
5 This is what the Lord says: “Cursed is the one who trusts in man,
who depends on flesh for his strength and whose heart turns away from the Lord.
Jer. 17:7
“But blessed are those who trust in the Lord and have made the Lord their hope and confidence.

This is just for those whose hearts may be troubled. (I most definitely know and understand the changes ahead but my hope is in God.)

Ps 42:11
11 Why am I discouraged? Why is my heart so sad? I will put my hope in God! I will praise him again—my Savior and my God!
